Tera Lynn Childs is a wannabe goddess and the award winning author of Oh. My. Gods. and Goddess Boot Camp and the upcoming mermaid tail, Forgive My Fins. Tera lives nowhere in particular, but has spent time fleeing hurricanes, blogging with the Buzz Girls and the Fivers, and writing wherever she can find a comfy chair and a steady stream of caffeinated beverages.

Interview

Andrea:Can you sum up Forgive My Fins, your new book, in a sentence.

Tera: Half-mermaid princess Lily Sanderson goes to high school on the mainland and accidentally bestows her magical first kiss on the wrong boy.

Andrea:Recently you've been going on tour for Forgive My Fins. Out of all the cities, which one did you enjoy visiting the most? And how do the chucks look now?

Tera:Oh, that wasn't a book tour, just a big adventure I'd been waiting a long time to take! To chose a favorite city, though, that's tough. Obviously I loved Seattle, since I'm planning on moving there, but if I could afford it I think I would move to San Francisco. It has a really great vibe and, at least when I was there, the weather was great. The Chucks are pretty well broken in, but they're not looking shabby yet. I'll have to keep working on that.

Andrea: Do you see yourself as any of you characters, and if so which one(s)?

Tera: Well, I definitely identify very strongly with Phoebe. I was an athlete in high school and was pretty much otherwise average (except I got better grades than her). Probably the character that is the greatest reflection of me is one you haven't met yet. Her name is Grace and she's in my upcoming, untitled trilogy. (See more details in question 5.) She is smart, shy, environmentally responsible, crushes on guys easily, loves her parents, and is always certain there is something bigger and better down the road. That's definitely all me.

Andrea: Surroundings sometimes influence authors in their writing process and books, do yours in anyway influence you?

Tera: If you mean the places where I write, then absolutely. I have to get out of the house to write, because there are too many distractions, so I usually end up at the nearest coffee shop. The vibe of that spot definitely affects my writing mood. But usually I can counteract any bad service or annoying customers by jacking up the volume on my iPod.

Andrea: Are you working on any new projects? If so can you give us a little hint, please.

Tera: Next up after Forgive My Fins is the sequel, Fins Are Forever, which will come out next summer. I can't give away too much about that, because there would be spoilers. Then I'm starting a new trilogy and the first book will be out in Fall 2011. It's about triplet descendants of Medusa (Grace, Gretchen and Greer) who learn it's their destiny to guard the door between the world of monsters and the world of man. They were separated at birth, but they won't be for much longer....

Andrea: Do have anything you want to say?

Wow!

SHORT MESSAGE:

Okay if I could do the happy dance right now I would be so happy! But alas I am in class right now and can not, because my Graphic Arts teacher would think I was crazy (Plus were learning flash buttons so yaya! (It's going to get implemented some how on here)).


But anyway the reason I'm going to do the happy dance is because I have 96 Followers! I don't really care what my followers numbers are but seriously thank you all. About Meridi Myers:

Meridi Myers is the author of Titus and Atreus, the first book in The Angel Saga, a fantasy series for young adults. Growing up, her favorite books were Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, and J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. Her fascination with the idea of other worlds helped inspire her to write Titus and Atreus. Meridi graduated in 2008 from Russell Sage College, and currently resides with her family in upstate New York. She has a Chichuahua, two Great Pyrenees, and three cats. When not writing, she likes to read, play video games, and play the piano.

Interview

Andrea: Can you sum up your book, Titus and Atreus, in a sentence?

Meridi: Titus and Atreus is the story of twin souls living on parallel worlds who must come together to unravel and fulfill a dangerous prophecy.

Andrea: Out of all the angels in the book who's your favorite to write about? Personally from reading I would say I like Rose the best.

Meridi: Out of Rizpah’s angels, I would probably have to pick Iris, just because she is always so eager to fight. Lily is fun to write for too, since she can be really bratty at times. Out of all the angels, though, I think I like writing for Malachite the best. ;)

Andrea: Tell us a little about yourself. We know you’re a writer but what are your favorite things and what do you other than write.

Meridi: In my spare time, I like to read (mostly fantasy) and play video games. I love RPGs like The Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy (right now I’m playing Final Fantasy XIII). I also try to find time to teach myself piano, but it’s been a year since I started and I’m still not that good at it. =) I have a lot of animals that I take care of as well, including a Chihuahua, two Great Pyrenees, three cats, and four chickens.

Andrea: Do you see yourself as any of your characters, and if so which one(s)? Or did/do you model any of your characters after people in your life?

Meridi: I think Titus and I probably share the most in common, but I can also be a lot like Anaxare, too. I don’t normally model my characters after real people, but I did base Nilus, the Prince of Althapek, off my younger brother.

Andrea: Surroundings sometimes influence authors in their writing process and books, do yours in anyway influence you?

Meridi: All of the houses I’ve lived in have been old, and I think that inspired me to have Titus live in an old house as well. As for Atreus’s world, most of that setting is imagined. When I was very little, however, my family and I used to sail a lot, and I definitely incorporated that aspect into the story. I still really love being around the ocean, so I knew I wanted Atreus’s home to be by the sea.

Andrea: Are you working on any new projects, like a possible sequel to Titus and Atreus? If so can you give us a little hint, please.

Meridi: Right now I am working on the sequel to Titus and Atreus, which will be the second book in The Angel Saga series. It will continue where Titus and Atreus left off, but this time Parzifal’s angels will play a more prominent role. ;)

Andrea: Do have anything you want to say?
