Fade Out by Rachel Caine (Review)

Without the evil vampire Bishop ruling over the town of Morganville, life has changed- dramatically. The resident vampires have made major concessions to the human population. With their newfound freedoms, Claire Danvers and her friends are almost starting to feel comfortable again- almost. Now Claire can actually concentrate on her studies, and he friend Eve joins the local theater company. Yet when one of Eve's cast mates goes missing after starting work on a short documentary, Eve suspects the worst. As she and Claire investigate, they soon realize that not only is the subject of the film the vampires themselves, but that this project is a whole lot bigger- and way more dangerous- than anyone suspected.

MY REVIEW:
(This might have slight spoilers, so read with caution I'll try to warn you when they come.)

Okay, So I'm a big fan of the Morganville Vampire Series, its just been interesting since day one. And brings a new spin around the corner. This time its not as big of a spin, there weren't really any new characters added except for Kim (who I disliked) and Bob the spider. Seriously I was laugh when Myrin named the spider Bob, I was like, of coarse you name the spider that Claire hates, Bob. But back on subject, Fade Out was interesting there was a lot of drama and I can't wait for Kiss of Death in April. Plus, I just love the characters: bad boy protective, Shane; intelligent dare devil (in away) Claire; musically talented pale Michael; and Eve the best goth coffee chick in the world. I love them all and when I get done a book in this series I always need more.


Fade Out evolves from what happens in Carpus Corpus after (SPOILERS START) the defeat of Bishop and what can happen when stuff goes wrong. Clarie in this book isn't battling evil vampires but a computer, named Ada that controls Morganville. Ada is jealous and dying, literally. (SPOILERS ENDED) And in result involves the action that ensues.


I can't really say anymore because I'm afraid I'm going to spoil this book for anyone that hasn't read it. I love the cover and the dragon necklace Eve is wearing. And I guess thats about it.

Rachel Caine is a fictional person. That’s right, she doesn’t exist, which makes it extra easy to write all those books. Her alter ego, Roxanne Conrad, was born at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico (yes, really), where her father was the “countdown voice” for missile launches, and her mother worked for genuine rocket scientists. All that radioactive science stuff must have worked, because Roxanne was fascinated with science fiction, fantasy, and adventure stories her whole life.

She didn’t set out to become a writer ... in fact, she intended to be a famous professional musician, and in fact did play professionally (clarinet)^ with several symphonies, and even played with famous conductors and composers like Henry Mancini, Peter Nero and John Williams. Ultimately, though, she decided to leave music for her other passion: writing. 

Since 1991, she’s been publishing novels and working to improve her craft, while still somehow managing to succeed in the corporate world -- who knew that was possible? So she’s been at this writing thing a while. It’s worked out pretty well so far, right?

She lives in a cool mock-Tudor house with an actual turret, which is where she has her writing space (and the all-important coffee maker). She and her husband have a lot of hobbies, all of which seem to take up a lot of space, including a wicked home theater addiction.

^Did you read that little thing, clarinet, Rachel Caine was a Clarinet major and played with John Williams who is a big music of movies person! Like he wrote for Harry Potter, E.T., Indiana Jones, Hook and more. I know this because were play a piece that combines all these pieces. I just think that is really cool. **Fan girl mode now turned off.**

EDIT: Before I said it was Kim on the cover I actually found out it is Eve on the cover from reading on Rachel's Website, stupid me, I just assumed since she was a new character.
